A couple of months ago I thought it might be fun to bring a few more voices into the conversation on Christ-centered pregnancy. So, I reached out to a number of women to talk with me about some of the topics that I cover in my book Expectant (as well as a few topics that are related to pregnancy). From the beginning of this journey, it’s been my desire to have many women represented in this important theme of Christ-centered pregnancy, because every woman’s experience is different. And, I so desire every mama to know that no matter how different the pregnancies and experiences are, God can use every one of them to draw us back to Himself and grow us to be more like Him.
Over the next few blog posts I’ll be sharing some highlights from each of these interviews, as well as the links so you can watch them yourself or share them with others who would appreciate them.
My first interview was on the topic of Pregnancy and Fear with Kristen Wetherell. Kristen recently published a book called Fight Your Fears (which I highlighted in a recent blog post), so she was the perfect person to talk with on this subject. She has also walked through difficulty and loss related to pregnancy, and has had to battle fear personally in the realm of bearing children.
In the interview she shares life-giving truth about God and how to live in a world full of fearful things in light of the Gospel.
Near the end of the interview Kristen says, “I would encourage that mama [who is struggling with fear during pregnancy] that the essence of fighting fear isn’t that it will go away or that you’ll become fearless, but it’s that you’ll increasingly exercise that muscle of faith and know Who to go to with it. And that’s the whole point: it’s that we want to know Him [God].”
